Today's tour is dedicated to the medieval capital of Bulgaria - the town of Veliko Turnovo. The old city is situated on three hills - Tsarevets, Trapezitsa and Sveta Gora above the picturesque meandras of Yantra river. During the tour you will see the most important sites: Tsarevets medieval stronghold – a present day architectural and museum reserve which during the Middle Ages housed the palaces of the Bulgarian Emperors and the Patriarchate along with some administrative and residential buildings. Walk along Samovodskata charshia - a lively craftsmen’s street where you can taste Turkish coffee and sweet delight "lokum" or you can watch the local artisans who produce their wares in front of you. Other points of interest are Assens’ monument, Gurko street. Free time for lunch on your own. In the afternon visit the neighbouring village of Arbanassi famous for its 17th and 18th centuries architecture and the unique church of the Nativity with its well preserved murals depicting over 2000 Old and New Testimaonial scenes.
