In eight days you will get familiar with Romania's amazing nature, with it's friendly people, with the beautiful castles and Medieval villages and with its interesting folk culture.
Bucharest – Sinaia – Brasov – Bran – Sighisoara – Sibiu - Sibiel - Piatra Neamt - Bucovina area
Day 1 - Bucharest – Sinaia (130 km)
Pick-up from your hotel (or from the airport) and depart for Sinaia, one of the best mountain resorts nicknamed the “Pearl of the Carpathians”. Accommodation in Sinaia.
Day 2 - Sinaia – Brasov – Bran – Sinaia (130 km)
Today you will visit Sinaia Monastery and the Peles Castle, a marvelous piece of architecture, which has served as the summer residence for King Carl I the first king of Romania.You will drive on to Brasov, where you will take a short walking city tour of this fairy-tale town founded in the 12th century by the Saxon settlers. Visit the Black Church – largest gothic style church in South-Eastern Europe and the St. Nicholas Church, then the museum of the First Romanian School in Transylvania. On your way back to Sinaia you will stop to Bran and have free for lunch on your own and visit Bran Castle. Built in the 14th century by the merchants from Brasov to protect the old border between Valahia and Transilvania, Bran Castle is also known as Dracula’s Castle. Accommodation in Sinaia (B)
Day 3 - Sinaia – Sighisoara – Sibiu (270km)
After breakfast you leave Sinaia behind and head on to Sighisoara-the birthplace of Vlad the Impaler. The town. a Saxon medieval fortress, is part of the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage being the best preserved and continuously inhabited early medieval citadel in Eastern Europe. Lunch at leisure, then proceed on a walking tour of the town. Visit the famous Clock Tower Museum with its Torture and Weapons Rooms and stop in the house in which Dracula (Vlad the Impaler) was born in 1432. In late afternoon departure to Sibiu. Day 4 - Sibiu – Sibiel – Sibiu (70 km)
In the morning you will enjoy a comprehensive walking tour of the city which was European Capital of Culture in 2007. Here you’ll see arcaded medieval shops and houses, the Small Square, the Liar’s Bridge, Huet Square and the Cathedral, where the son of Vlad the Impaler (another of Dracula’s monikers) was assassinated. At noon you drive to Sibiel Village where you can admire the Glass Icon Museum and enjoy a hearty Romanian lunch at local farmhouse. Accommodation in Sibiu (B, L)
Day 5 - Sibiu – Piatra Neamt (300 km)
After beakfast in the hotel , drive towards Bucovina through the Bicaz Gorges, one of the most spectacular limestone formations in Romania. Reach Lacu Rosu (Red Lake) where you will stop to admire the beauty of the mountains and the surrounding woods. In the afternoon you will arrive in Piatra Neamt for accommodation (B)
Day 6 - Day 6: Piatra Neamt- Bucovina area-Piatra Neamt (350 km)
Today get ready for the full-day tour of the famous painted monasteries of Bucovina: Moldovita Monastery admire the black pottery in Marginea Village then visit Sucevita Monastery - the best preserved of all with imposing walls and defensive towers. Finish the tour with Voronet Monastery- the "Sistine Chapel" of Eastern Europe, so famous for the blue colour used by the artist as background for its frescoes. Drive back to Piatra Neamt for accommodation (B)
Day 7 - Piatra Neamt– Bucharest (370 km)
You will have breakfast at the hotel before departing to Bucharest. Late arrival to Bucharest followed by a panoramic city tour of the Romanian capital, once called “Little Paris”. The tour includes the open air Village Museum, the Revolution Square, the Patriarchal Church, the Military Academy, the Arch of Triumph. Farewell dinner with folklore program. Accommodation and dinner in Bucharest (B, D)
Day 8 - Departure
Today you will be transferred to the airport for your flight back home (B)
