  • Departures and Prices
Departure to Glojen monastery. Situated on a high rocky hill above the Teteven Valley, the monastery is to be seen from a distance. Named after the Kiev Prince George Glozh, who in the 17th century settled nearby and brought with him the icon of St. George Victorious. This icon disappeared several times and was found on the site of the present monastery. The icon is worshiped as wonder-working and can be seen in the monastery church. Besides the church, another point of interest is the room where the national hero Vasil Levski found refuge. Enjoy some free time in the monastery. Create memorable pictures from the terrace of the monastery which reveals exciting views on the surrounding Balkan Mountains.
Our next stop is the town of Teteven where you will have free time for lunch. If you are interested, you may see the town’s All saints church.
In the afternoon, our tour will bring you to Saeva Dupka cave where you will be delighted by its beautiful rock formations. The cave has hosted many music performances, thanks to its excellent acoustic conditions. On the way, back to Sofia, optional stop at an ostrich farm in the village Brestnitsa.
On the way back from the cave, there is an option to visit an ostrich farm in the village of Brestnitsa.
