The Celebrations in the Valley of the Thracian Kings are relatively new event and aim to promote the numerous Thracian tombs and temples as well as valuable archaeological finds of Thracian culture and art in the region of Kazanlak. Some of the most interesting and valuable sites are: the Kazanlak Thracian tomb, which is under UNESCO protection, Goliama Kosmatka Temple Mound – a Tomb of the Thracian King Seuthes III, Temple Mound in Shoushmanets,  Temple Mound in Ostrusha and others. 

During the festival, you may see:
Fair of the Thracian crafts
Ancient techniques and modern skills are presented by Kazanlak craftsmen in outdoors  workshops and studios. The audience can actively participate, and anyone who wants "to create" their own work, may do so under the guidance of the masters.
 
"Thracian camp" (check the date, subject to extra charge)
Demonstration of Thracian martial arts, horse riding, archery and spear. Ancient rites and rituals are demonstrated by school "Bagatour" reproducing the martial skills of the Thracians based on legends and historical evidence
 
Body Art
Street performance - a replica of an ancient Thracian custom in which body parts are tattooed with paintings of religious subjects with the participation of artists, models and volunteers.
 
Review of Thracian clothing
Thracian garments are similar to the clothing of the surrounding ancient world- tunics, cloaks, robes, sandals. Depending on the social status they differ in color and decoration. Restoration of Thracian clothing based on historical descriptions and artifacts are presented on open stage.

Day 1 - Sofia - Stara Zagora - Kazanlak
Our first stop in today’s journey will be the town of Stara Zagora. A city with over 7000 years of history, the town may surprise its visitors with many cultural and historical landmarks. Visit the antique forum of Augusta Trayana, visit the Regional History Museum as well as "The Neolithic dwellings" Museum, presenting the best-preserved dwellings in Europe from the middle of 6th century BC. The Museum of Religions is also a major point of interest. In the afternoon, continue to Kazanlak and attend an evening folklore concert on the main square, an official opening of the festival.
Day 2 - Kazanlak - village Buzovo - Sofia
After breakfast, drive to nearby village of Buzovo and join in the eco-march to Buzovo megalith. Attend restoration of ancient Thracian rituals. After lunch, visit Tharcian Tomb of Kazanlak (replica) as well as The Museum of Roses. Drive back to Sofia. En route, stop in the town of Hisarya and see the remnants of the Roman fortress.
