Rose Festival in Karlovo

Our first stop during this journey will be the town of Koprivshtitsa. Nestled in the mountain-folds of Sredna Gora, Koprivshtica is one of the most characteristic Bulgarian towns, declared an architectural reserve. It still bears the atmosphere of The Bulgarian Revival period with its cobbled streets, stone and wooden houses in different colors. Koprivshtica is also associated as the birth place of many famous Bulgarian revolutionaries and poets. During the guided city tour, you will visit some of their birth-houses, now turned into museums. In the afternoon, drive to Starosel and visit the largest underground temple in the Balkans found in the area under Chetinyova Mound. Possibility to visit Starosel complex - an excellent example for a modern enterpreneurship combining vine-growing, wine-production and hospitality industry. Enjoy a wine tour and wine tasting in the degustation hall made as a replica of the nearby Thracian Tomb. Accommodation in the nearby town of Hissarya.

The program begins with a visit to the rose fields near the town where you can participate in a rose picking ritual. The ritual is demonstrated by young girls dressed up in national costumes accompanied with many songs and dances. The feast then moves to the town’s main square, where you will see the process of rose boiling. Visit some of the most interesting museums in Karlovo and return back to Sofia. En route, you may stop in another picturesque mountain town - Kalofer. Evening arrival in Sofia.
