Surva Kukeri Fest in Pernik

Visit the largest mummers festival in Bulgaria - “Surva”. The mummer’s games have pagan origin and nowadays can be seen in different regions of Bulgaria, but the masquerade carnival in Pernik is the largest of them all. Young boys and adults dress up in fur clothes, put creepy masks and decorate their costumes with heavy bells. You can see them strolling on the streets dancing and singing. The purpose is driving away the evil spirits and wishing health and prosperity throughout the year.
Optional visit of The Mining Museum - a unique of its type in the Balkans. Similar museums are to be found only in Belgium, Germany, Poland and Russia. It i shoused not in a traditional building but in a real time underground mine. In the afternoon, drive back to Sofia.
